What 3 albums would you take with you to a desert island?
First of all, it's a no-brainer that I would take a Metallica album with me onto a desert island. The question is which one? After hard deliberation I decided on "...And Justice For All". It's a defining album in the band's career which focuses on the transition of the maturity of their music. The songs are incredibly meaningful and it's not only the album that got me into them, it's one I'd never get bored of. Plus, if there was any justice, I wouldn't be on the desert island in the first place.
Next we have Eminem's "Marshall Mathers LP" the original that is. It is arguably the greatest rap album of all time and the songs are timeless. Every track leaves you feeling a mixture of emotions, but more importantly it portrays the story of real life struggles which are generally relatable. Any rap fan would agree this album is one worth cherishing.
To finish off, my last choice was my hardest. Alas, I went with Avenged Sevenfold - Nightmare. This album took a while to resonate with me originally. There were elements I found incredibly hard to enjoy at first, but with multiple replays I discovered its true beauty. The album is an awe-inspiring tribute to Avenged's late drummer "The Rev" and the faster songs on the album will have you feeling pumped when living on the island. It's time to make a paddle boat.
Past, present and future favourite games?
Let me take you back a few years to a time when games were played in black and white and the characters were merely little pixels on a small screen. Yes I know I'm not that old but the reality is the game that introduced me to the virtual world is. Seeing as I couldn't decide on a single game, I've opted for two, one for the Game Boy Colour, the other on the Playstation 1. Firstly we have the original Pokemon Yellow. I'll admit it, I'm a massive Pokemon geek. Even now you'll catch me reliving my childhood, spending time playing these classic games. The thing that made Yellow so special was the fact that our little yellow companion, Pikachu, followed you round on your quest for greatness. You truly wanted to be the best like no one ever was ... except me. It is a game that has matured majestically with age and will have you hooked to the console for hours catching and training crazy looking Pokemon. Now where did I put my game cartridge?
My other old school game is completely different to Pokemon. It's Tony Hawk Pro Skater. It's such a simple concept, skate around and do tricks to earn points and prizes. Although it may sound tedious, I never seemed to be bored of it. It's such an iconic game for people who felt underground sports were not as appreciated.
My favourite current game is probably Pokemon X and Y. Although I have not played them that much as I don't own a 3DS (sue me) I feel like I'm in the minority when I say they've taken Pokemon to a whole new level, and for the better. The range of activities in the game is astounding and it feels like one never ending quest which is what you want from a game.
I don't particularly have a new game that interests me but I'm intrigued to see how well received the new South Park game will be. Time will tell.
Best and worst film?
School of Rock is my favourite film. It's got everything a true film needs: Rock 'n' Roll, laugh out loud moments and Jack Black in a school uniform. I feel like every young kid has to watch this film to escape from the norm and experience a bit of anarchy in their lives. They should be urging their parents to buy them a guitar and set up a band.
Worst film..... wow there's many! Overall I'd have to say the Pirates of the Caribbean films are terrible. They don't interest me in the slightest, they're full of monotonous scenes and the swords aren't even real. Not worth the time of day.
