What three albums would you bring to a desert island and why?
So first off let me just say how ridiculously hard this was to answer and that I have no specific order for these albums. But the first that comes to mind is definitely Save Rock & Roll by Fall Out Boy. From a four year hiatus to probably the comeback of the century this album reinvented the band on a whole new level. It's such a development from their previous emo image and yet the songs still provide such playback quality. Also Patrick's voice is just in a completely different league in comparison to any other band out there especially in the pop punk scene. For me it was the album that made 2013.
Secondly I would have to say Pioneer by The Maine would be a must have for me to bring. Again they have progressed so far. Their sugary sweet manufactured sound is now a thing of the past, thank God. The honesty of the lyrics and the stand out vocal talent of Callaghan has made every song distinct, direct and addictive.
Finally my last choice has been extremely difficult to come up with as You Me At Six's Hold Me Down was very close to being picked. However All Time Low's Don't Panic has merely pipped them to the post . The album signifies a big fuck you to the music industry for trying to change them as a band and a well deserved celebration of their signature style. It just goes to show if it isn't broken don't fix it.
Well I had a wide variety of games when I was younger but my favourite childhood game has to be Jade Cocoon. Think Pokemon crossed with Digimon and The Legend Of Zelda and you have one hell of a lovechild. Sure the graphics are severely outdated and the dialogue does drag in parts but the concept was revolutionary at the time. Who wouldn't want to explore jungles whilst fighting with bad-ass monsters that you captured and created? The customization aspect of it when you could merge monsters was genius and it was challenging enough to keep you interested. Such a shame about the sequel, don't play it as it slaughters everything that was good about this PS1 classic.
The game I'm currently hooked on is Kingdom Hearts 2. It's got so many plotlines that seem to run together effortlessly it makes the game so immersive. That and the fact that you get to fight alongside your favourite Disney characters of course. But I've always enjoyed RPG's as the genre has so much to offer and really takes you away from the world for a little while.
The game I have been waiting on for literally six years is Final Fantasy 15. Square Enix always know how to produce an incredible game franchise and Final Fantasy has got to be one of their calling cards. However they released a trailer for this game ages ago and it was so awesome. The plot, the characters and the setting were a complete overall of the usual happy go lucky hero ready to save the day. It had such an dark undertone to it and the game play visually was insane. Yet no matter how many times they state they're still "developing" the game I'm left without this title for my collection. Fingers crossed it won't be scrapped but in the meantime that game is what I'm looking forward to playing the most.
Best & Worst films
Best film hands down is Ace Ventura When Nature Calls. No matter how many times I watch this film it still makes me laugh. Jim Carrey was, is and always will be a legend but I have to say he has never been funnier than he was in this. Besides the amount of quotes that come from this is brilliant. If you haven't seen Ace Ventura for the love of all that's holy go watch it, you will not regret it!
Worst film is probably Bridge to Terabithia. It was just the weirdest plot premise ever. Even the actors didn't understand what was going on! All I remember is that two kids ran around in a forest and made up an imaginary world, that's pretty much the majority of the so called "story". Instead of being a magic escape from their mundane lives the CGI effects just made everything look like shit. Then, spoilers to anyone that actually cares, the girl dies. I mean seriously you wasted about an hour and half on two kids pissing around with non-existent and frankly boring as fuck creatures only to kill off the boys best friend and make us watch him be depressed for the rest of the bloody thing. Never again.
What is your favourite character from a book?
Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games is definitely my favourite book character. It's not just because she's an independent woman figure who doesn't spend all of her life moping around as she doesn't have a guy in her life, she's real. I mean she has genuine flaws like everyone else, she isn't created to be the perfect reflection of what a girl should be. She doubts herself, she gets overly aggressive sometimes and she honestly doesn't know what she wants for most of the series. Yet that's what makes her so engaging and personable. It also helps that she's an absolute bad-ass and slays anyone who gets in her way but you get my point.
