Rounding off this year's E3 Conference is a tall order for any company. But who better to take on the challenge and to impress avid gamers aplenty than the infamous Nintendo. Throughout the years they have always focused on kid friendly fun to appeal to the younger end of the market. This time around it appears they've garnered the same approach but will be as successful as the other big name companies? Here's what we thought of the latest announcements from E3...
Super Smash Bros
Being arguably one of the biggest pulling powers for the new
Wii U console the newly re-vamped "Super Smash Bros" has unveiled
some exciting new aspects. First off new additions to the character roster
include Lady Palutena from the Kid Icarus series and surprisingly Pac-Man. In
addition to this players can now add Mii's into the fray whilst also being able
to control what fighting style they are and what special moves they possess.
Furthermore Nintendo created it's very own platform enabled figurines called
"amiibo." Similar to Skylanders the figurines will be able to
interact and store data from games such as the new Super Smash Bro's. So expect
ten year olds everywhere to go gaga over this new creation due to release later
this year.
The Legend of Zelda
Advancing the franchise with a whole new open world concept
and beautifully rendered graphics, the Zelda series is back with a vengeance. The
new development ensures players can now access areas in the game from any
direction without having to follow a linear path unlike previous titles in the
franchise. No solid release date has been confirmed although it is rumoured to
hit stores in early 2015. However to keep Zelda fans happy a cross-over brawler
style game entitled "Hyrule Warriors" is scheduled for a much earlier
release. Allowing players to choose from characters such as Midna and Impa this
slash-and-dash title is coming your way September 26th.
Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire
The next Pokemon game to be given the 3DS treatment
"Omega Ruby" and "Alpha Sapphire" have thus far been
carefully under wraps by the Nintendo team. Unfortunately it's a very similar
case at E3 as the trailer left a lot to be desired. The only new details of the
game that featured from the game was the unveiling of the mega-evolutions of
all three starter Pokemon. Alongside that the primal forms of Kyogre and Groudon
were also showcased in the teaser trailer. All in all the graphics and the
evolutions look incredibly promising and thankfully fans will not have to wait
much longer. Expect the next Pokemon adventure to arrive later this November.
Splatoon
Now for something entirely left wing for Nintendo. Venturing
into the realms of a shooter-style game but with a kid friendly twist the game
"Splatoon" is here to bridge this unlikely gap in the market. This
4v4 online multiplayer's objective is to cover as much of the world as possible
in your respective colour. Armed with only a paint gun this oddball concept has
proved a hit amongst many gamers online. The game is scheduled to be available
on the Wii U in 2015.
