Day 1 of Wireless festival in Birmingham got off to a stagnant start, so day 2 really had to flavour it up. And what a better way to do this by kick-starting with hip-hop veterans Salt & Pepper.
Sampling Beyoncé’s ‘Crazy in Love’ and ‘Run the World (Girls)’
the dynamic duo gave one of the most pure fun shows of the whole weekend .
Closing their set with their renowned ‘Push it’, there wasn’t a still body in
sight.
Elsewhere in the BrumBrum stage another American duo A Great Big World had an eager crowd listening to the pair sing songs from their debut album Is There Anyone Out There? Couples were swaying and hands were waving as their hit Say Something (made famous by the Christina Aguilera feature) concluded their set on a tender note.
'Can't Get Enough' received a huge roar from J. Cole's fans |
The sun was out and spirits were high during rapper J.Cole’s
stellar performance on the main stage. Performing songs from his latest album
Born Sinner and songs from his previous work, J.Cole thanked everyone in the
crowd for their support over the years, or ‘fucking with me from the beginning’
as he frankly put it.
Sean Paul filled the BrumBrum stage tent to its full
capacity as fans congregated together to hear the 24 year olds many classic
hits. ‘Get Busy’, Temperature’ and ‘Gimme The Light’ were just a few of the
songs that had the sweating and vigorous audience wanting more.
Day 2 of Wireless brought more a happy-go-lucky atmosphere
to Birmingham than day one. Possibly due to throughout the day the sun was
constantly glowing all through the day. Or maybe that the acts themselves put
on a better show, whatever the reason Birmingham’s Perry Park had finally come
alive.
In an outfit that showed off her incredible body and wash
board abs, Ellie Goulding added a little sparkle to the now slightly drunk Birmingham
audience.
André now- thousand apparently |
Surprisingly not a headliner, Outkast played their first
show in the UK in a more than overdue 13 years. André 3000 donned a white wig,
a body suit with the words ‘Andre now thousand’ and a price tag hanging off it (what else would André
3000 wear though?). Both Big Boi and
Andre killed it on the stage with a chemistry that comes with a 20 year+
friendship. One of the wildest reactions
from the whole weekend came when; Outkast performed ‘Hey Ya!’ Not just every
female, but every male was shaking it like a Polaroid picture. And even If the night had ended with Outkast,
it still would’ve been an epic night. But the final performer Bruno Mars took it
to another level. With fireworks and everything.
The pint sized Hawaiian crooner, charmed his way into the
hearts of the thousands of females before him, single or not. For the guys in
the audience, they must’ve felt like a third wheel at the beginning of the
show, as Bruno was attentive to the females every want and need. With an x
rated, hip thrusting, mash up of infamously sexily songs such as Ginuwine’s ‘Pony’,
Bruno had every female swooning, weak at the knees and rightfully so.
Pretending to close on the unbearably naff Just The
Way You Are, Bruno made a theatrical return to the stage, much to the shock of
fans that were already walking off. A dramatic but very entertaining performance
of ‘Locked Outta Heaven’ and ‘Gorilla’ left the Birmingham crowd leaving exhausted
after a great day of live music.
