This week has brought us the exciting news of Download Festival's first announcements for the summer of 2015. The three headliners and nine other acts were announced over a three day period earlier in the week. Next year's festival will play host to nu-metal legends Slipknot, who will headline Download for the third time on the Friday, Brit giants Muse; who will provide us with their Download debut and promise to blow the crowd away on the Saturday, and finally closing the festival on Sunday night are old-time rockers Kiss.
Featuring over the weekend are acts such as Judas Priest, Faith No More, Motley Crue, Five Finger Death Punch, A Day To Remember, Slash ft. Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators, Black Stone Cherry, Marilyn Manson and Enter Shikari.
My personal opinion is that it is a solid announcement so far. Slipknot, although being regulars at Donington, never disappoint and always put on a phenomenal show. Plus with their new album out, the fans will get to hear a different setlist to when they played two years ago. Muse are a bold choice but they are undeniably one of the best live bands around. They may not seem like they would fit on the bill but believe me, Muse can get heavy when they want. Kiss are a safe choice for a festival but personally I do not think are they still relevant enough to play, even if the Sunday is usually based around a classic rock theme. If you're a fan of Kiss then you won't be feeling underwhelmed, but I know I will be watching Enter Shikari tear down the second stage instead.
If you're not convinced on the line-up thus far, do not panic as there will be plenty more announcements coming your way in the near future!
Tickets are now on sale at www.downloadfestival.co.uk so make sure you buy yours. This promises to be one of Download's strongest line-ups and you don't want to miss out on England's heaviest and craziest festival.
