Grammy award winning producer, Mark Ronson, best known for
his smash hit Valerie -and the usually melodramatic Bruno Mars have joined
forces. Switching things up and creating
one of the most enjoyable retro songs of the year.
Uptown Funk is an instantly groovy song full of funk and
flare reminiscent of that of the legendary Prince in the 80s. ‘Don’t believe me
just watch’- Bruno convincingly declares on the hook- which is why it works so
well. Bruno naturally moulds in with the sound of that era.
Mark Ronson does a stellar job with the production,
capturing the essence of an 80s soul funk record, while still including a few of
his indie quirks on the song. Uptown Funk will inevitably draw comparisons to
Bruno’s look-a-like; Lenny Kravitz but that is never a bad thing. Just proves
that it’s been done right.

As if music in 2014 hasn't been exceptional enough already,
watch Bruno and his gang strut their stuff (while Mark Ronson lingers around in
the background) in the video above and let us know what you think!
