Superhero Saga

Over the past couple of years, a day hasn’t gone by without some news from the superhero movie world. This superhero movie addiction has resulted in many blockbusters and even more fans. Here’s a rundown of the best of the bunch.

After Avengers, everyone wanted to see how Iron Man got on after his shawarma. His sass was ever present throughout the film, with some interesting lead-ons from Avengers. A better villain would have spiced the film up a bit, but Iron Man is his usual self thanks to Downey Jr. That’s enough to want to watch this, and the other two Iron Man films.

Jackman’s return as Wolverine had mixed expectations because of Origins before  (spoiler, film wasn’t that great) all the critics were silenced when an action packed film was brought to them. With just the right amount of backstory and plenty of Wolverine actiony goodness (and a topless Hugh Jackman), Wolverine makes a great comeback.

Thor has always been one of the best Marvel characters. This film does that justice. The villains make this film what it is, with outstanding performances from Tom Hiddleston and Christopher Eccleston.  A definite breakthrough performance is Kat Dennings as Darcy, who brings a lovely bit of humour to the film. A bit Star-Warsy at times, but other than that, it’s a pretty awesome film.

With so many superheroes in one film, there was always danger of overcrowding. This was not the case with Avengers. With each character bouncing off each other well, and a challenging villain to match, this film was near flawless.

1. The Dark Knight

The best Batman film by a long shot. Christian Bale does a perfect, rough rendition of Batman. Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent also brings a good contrast to Batman, but most importantly, the Joker. Heath Ledger’s perfect performance as one of the most memorable comic book villains makes this film one of the greatest superhero films of all time. See it to believe it.
