As much as I hate to admit it exam season is looming and
honestly motivation is hard to come by. But when times are tough music seems to
be a good way to pull people through. So stop looking so glum and put this new
track on full blast as Travie Mccoy has the perfect way to drag you from your
revision slump. The gym class hero teamed up with the unlikely sidekick of
Brendon Urie to create the upbeat tune entitled "Keep on Keeping on."
At first I was a little dubious of the pairing, Brendon's
natural falsettos and Travies laid-back vocals seemed to be a strange mix on
paper. However the proof was in the track and strangely enough it has been
doing the rounds in my mind for some time now. The uplifting hooks and
insatiably catchy chorus will stay with you long after the track has ended.
Although most importantly it's fun, free-spirited and full of promise with the
underlying message that perseverance will pay off in the long run.
My only critique is that at times it can feel slightly
repetitive and formulaic but all in all it does what it says in the title. It
brings energy in an abundance and provides an interesting lyrical insight into
McCoy's past. All whilst bringing two icons from polar opposite genres into a
exciting new pop single. McCoy's new album currently untitled will hopefully be
released sometime this year but in the mean time "Keep on Keeping on"
has definitely proved to be a solid single.
