Ariana Grande or ‘The one
that sounds like Mariah Carey’ for those that aren’t familiar to her work, has
made quite an impression to the music world with her angelic voice and cute
down-to-earth personality. Ariana's new song ‘Problem' shouldn't be a problem
to her fans; reassuring them that she isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
Staying true to her
Nickelodeon roots, Problem is a sweet and adorable song that will definitely be on
everyone of those cringy ‘Pop Princess CDs’. It will become every five-year-old girl’s
favourite song and will be played at each school disco held this year.
Regardless of those cute
facts and that the song is nice, it
is equally underwhelming too. The unnecessary whispering “I got one less
problem without ya” by Big Sean proves to be one of the most disappointing chorus’
of 2014. Especially considering that the hook into the chorus is the best part
of the song.
And just as you get used
to the whispering chorus, Iggy Azaela’s verse ruins the song even more. Perhaps if Big
Sean had done that verse and ‘Iggy Iggs’ was taken out of the song completely,
it would be a much more enjoyable listen.
Problem is a fun song and deserves a fun
video. It’s just nowhere near as good as most of the songs on Ariana’s debut
album ‘Yours Truly’.
Overview: Hopefully
Ariana doesn’t suffer from AvrilLavigneitus where sufferers think they are 14
forever. It works for Ariana for now, but look at the mess that is Avril Lavigne’s last
video....
