It seems the stupid wigs, shockingly hideous outfits and the terrible fuse of dance music and rap have all been put in the bin where they deserve to stay and never to be revealed ever again.
Yes, 2014 has marked the return of a less gimmicky Nicki Minaj and we here at FourPlay welcome this change with open arms. Her new single “Pills N Potions” is a triumphant return to music following her mistake of an album “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded”.
“Pills N Potions” is a hard hitting and heartfelt hip-hop ballad with an noticeably more mature sound from Nicki as she raps about her haters "[People] swearin' on the Bible that they love you but they're no different from all your rivals/ but I don't wish death on 'em, I just reflect on 'em."
Nicki’s singing on the chorus is impressive and the minimal production by Dr. Luke makes her rapping on the verses’ sound even better. “Pills N Potions” is without a doubt going to be a crowd pleaser at any show she does and definitely the best lead single of her career. You can listen to the track below, and be sure to let us know if you agree.
Overview: You know when someone makes you so angry but you still love you still love you still love you still love them? Well instead of popping pills, give Pills N Potions a listen, rap it out and you'll feel better.
3.5/5
