After one of the biggest comebacks since Blink 182, Fall Out Boy's infamous Save Rock and Roll has been silencing critics worldwide. But with their new sound comes new expectations. With the aid of a social media blackout Fall Out Boy teased fans for what felt like centuries with the promise of new material. Thankfully they did not disappoint. The new track aptly titled "Centuries" was conceptualized and created on the road as the band toured the length and breadth of Europe.
In the same vein as their previous
work, the song features an alternative feel built upon their well-known punk
foundations. By incorporating an insatiably catchy hook at the beginning of the
track with Patrick's imposing vocal range it slickly explores new ground. Admittedly
the pitch definitely takes some time to get accustomed to but none the less it's
incredibly impressive. Experimental, brazen and daring "Centuries" encapsulates
the staggering progression the band has made both musically and professionally and the potential they still possess as a band 13 years on.
