FourPlay's Festival Guide: Download Festival

It's getting closer to that time of year where music fans can be let loose in a field for a weekend and go absolutely bonkers to their favourite songs and live performers. At FourPlay we cater for everyone's musical needs and for those who are interested in Metal and Rock music, we have a guide of what to watch at Download and why it is the best music festival for this genre this year.

Best Headliner: Linkin Park

Say what you want about Download, but one thing's for sure, it will never disappoint with its choice of headliners each year. There is always a band that will appeal to everyone. Take this year's line-up for example. Whether it's the completely insane yet fantastic Avenged Sevenfold who are aimed at a younger audience, or the legendary rockers Aerosmith who appeal to an older generation, it is safe to say that you will be pleased no matter who you watch. But this year belongs to Linkin Park, who will be bringing their awe inspiring stage show and to top things off, the band will perform their debut and iconic album "Hybrid Theory" in its entirety, something that all music fans have anticipated for years. If you decide to go to Download and you miss that set, you'll forever regret it. Be there.

Best mid-card act: Skindred

As appealing as the headliners are, one aspect you must always consider when buying a festival ticket is who is playing during the day to get the crowd pumped? This year there are many bands filling this role, from the rising metal stars Bring Me The Horizon, to the likes of Fall Out Boy and Alter Bridge. However in terms of a live show, the band which will perform their arses off and blow everyone's mind in the crowd will be Skindred. The Reggae-Metal hybrid band are such an underrated act but they are notorious for their adrenaline filled live shows featuring the great "Newport Helicopter" (look it up and prepare to be amazed.) If you're finding yourself wandering around the festival site and you want to check out an act, then Skindred is the ultimate band to see during the day on the Friday.

Surprise act: Letlive

Every time they play a festival, Letlive absolutely tear the place down - literally. Similarly to Skindred, they are not completely in the public domain but that does not mean that they are to be taken lightly. The music is ferocious, full of energy and you're guaranteed to have the time of your life witnessing Letlive play live.

Act to avoid: The Pretty Reckless

For some obscure reason, The Pretty Reckless seemed to have been booked to play Download. I can guarantee that they will be out of their depth and will attempt to perform to a crowd who won't give them the time of day. They will just check out the boobs and leave. My advice to you is to go and watch Alter Bridge instead where you will certainly have a better time.
