EA has always been one for big names, and they didn’t
disappoint on the first day of E3. With a wide range of games ready to keep
gamers across all consoles satisfied, there was one game that most gamers wanted a glimpse
of, and EA delivered.
Star Wars Battlefront induced nerdgasms around the arena,
and probably around the world. Giving more of a behind the scenes look at the
creation of the game and how they’re creating the surreal locations in Star
Wars. With a couple of glimpses at the in game footage, it looks like it’s
going to be a game that’s going to look even more impressive than most next-gen
games at the moment. And with the game leaning towards the original trilogy,
surely that will keep Star Wars fans happy. No release date just yet though.
Now there’s undoubtedly a game most PC gamers were waiting
for, one of the most popular franchises in gaming. The Sims 4. With new
emotions and deeper personalities, the Sims stories are yours to tell. It’s
full of lively, vibrant neighbourhoods and richer stories for the Sims. It was
sceptical as to how much the Sims could grow after the Sims 3, since they did
pretty much everything possible, or so we thought. There are much more in depth
connections between the Sims community and the moods the Sims are in really
affects how they behave. It’s also now possible to instantly install Sims from
other people’s games right into yours. And for some reason the Grim Reaper has
an iPad? Anyway, good news for Sims fans because the release date is sooner
than expected! September 2nd 2014!
A bunch of sports games were announced too, standard for EA. Fifa 2015 has some more pointless updates like ‘Dynamic Matchday presentation’ so it’s more atmospheric depending on the stadium. The players now have memories? So when they play bad they remember or something like that. A new Ball physics system (gasp). And the players look more realistic. Also there was Madden, which looks cool, but confusing to us Brits. The shocker was that the PGA Golf Tour 2015 where for some reason, a battleship crashed into the course. Not too sure why. Thinking a Battlefield crossover to make golf not so boring.
What did look interesting was a new IP from Criterion Games.
Yet to be named, it features insane extreme sports with wingsuits, helicopters,
parachuting and a host of other extreme sports to expose the daredevil inside
you.
Another game that can do that is Mirror’s Edge 2, with
plenty more badass parkour and dropkicking people who get in the way of Faith’s
badass parkouring. It still looks like they’ve kept the same concept as the
original game, shich hopefully means no guns and plenty of dropkicking.
And finally, what looks incredibly impressive is Battlefield
Hardline. Only the multiplayer was shown but it seems to take a more
interesting angle than previous games. With a Cops v Robbers focus, all
childhood fantasies can be relived! It also has heists, something GTA V hasn’t managed
yet. The Beta was also released
yesterday for next-gen consoles.
EA impressed with their big name games but there was a distinct lack of gameplay shown for the majority of the games and more cinematic trailers which don’t really show anything about the game. Nonetheless, their flashy show paid off to match the flashy games.
