It's no secret that Microsoft have received a pummelling in the past with the Xbox One failing to deliver in comparison to the PS4. With only 5 million units sold in contrast to the gargantuan 7 million units by Sony, Microsoft had a lot to live up to at E3 this year. Thankfully they managed to deliver some serious game announcements and exciting developments. Here's what you need to know about the upcoming releases for Microsoft.
Halo 5
So this is the title that has gotten everyone talking. The
fifth instalment in the cornerstone gaming franchise for Xbox entitled
"Halo 5 Guardians" will be releasing a new beta in December this year. However
the full game will not be out until autumn next year. Unfortunately the lack of
a release date has kept gamers on their toes but has done nothing but heighten
the excitement around this Xbox exclusive franchise. With its promise to
deliver on HD visuals and build upon the Master Chief legacy this game is
tipped to be one of the most anticipated titles of 2015.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection
In order to tide Halo lovers over till next years "Guardians"
release, Microsoft have created the ultimate Halo extravaganza. Combining all
four past titles into one cohesive gaming experience "The Master Chief Collections" is bringing a whole new dimension to
this beloved series. Promising over 45 campaign missions and more than 100
multiplayer maps this collection will provide endless entertainment for any
self respecting fan of the franchise.
Sunset Overdrive
This new release from Insomniac games has garnered a lot of
hype from gamers across the globe and is set to debut on October 28th. It's presented as a very self aware comedic
open world shooter full of zombies, mutants and much more. Microsoft also confirmed
at E3 that the game would feature an eight player online co-op mode entitled "Chaos
Squad." With this being Insomniacs first independent release for Xbox One
it has a lot to prove but judging from the colourful and exciting trailer it's
sure to deliver.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
The next instalment in this ever popular series entitled "Call
of Duty: Advanced Warfare" has brought stunning in-game visuals to the
forefront. With its breath-taking graphics highlighted in the trailer previewed
at E3 this release has pushed the boundaries of immersive gaming. Another
feature that they hope will create a unique aspect to the combat is the
introduction of high-tec exoskeletons. Only time will tell if this was a smart choice
for the game but for now it seems like an interesting and exciting move forward for Call of Duty.
